JOB TITLE: Medical Receptionist – Summer Student
REPORT TO: Executive Director
ACCOUNTABILITY: A grant has been received from Employment and Social Development Canada Summer jobs for one person between the ages of 15 and 30 inclusive who will work with our medical receptionist staff for 8 weeks. The position will assist with medical receptionist support as necessary to ensure delivery of the Family Health Team and Clinton Physicians’ programs and administrative services. The medical receptionist student will have an excellent opportunity to gain new skills in collaboration, communication, digital and technical skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Between the ages of 16 & 30 ( inclusive)
- Enrollment in a health related post-secondary program is preferred
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration & Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work under provincial legislation
- Experience with database software applications and ability to learn new software programs quickly and thoroughly
- Able to deal efficiently and pleasantly with the public and health care professionals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, reliable, strong organizational skills, effective verbal and written skills, commitment to collaboration and team work
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week for 8 weeks with an anticipated start date of June 23/25
RATE OF PAY: $17.20 per hour
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs support function for personnel and/or programs. This includes the following, although not a full list: answering telephone calls, greeting and registering arriving patients, verifying patient information and data on the patient’s medical record, booking, coordinating and rescheduling appointments
- Acts as part of a work group, assisting & backing up other medical receptionists
- Completes data input, scans & processes reports using computer software programs.
- Responds to the public in a polite and efficient manner. Answers questions within related program areas according to established guidelines and published information without expressing opinions or interpretations
- Takes messages, transfers to voice mail and refer inquiries to other staff as appropriate
- Completes reports based on information provided and received
- Treats all personal information in a confidential manner
- Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director
